At Church of the Redeemer we are intentional about the Christian Education of all our parishioners. Various courses are offered on Sundays and weekdays throughout the year to nourish all ages on their faith journey.
All Church School classes for children are rooted in Scripture. The youngest children experience the unconditional love of God through the stories of God’s people, and the environment of open affirmation in the creative experience of Godly Play. Their learning encourages them to retell the stories that are forming them as disciples. The elementary children continue learning about the Biblical covenant between God and the People of God using creative medial to express the Good News in the Sanctus Workshop.
The youth from sixth through twelfth grades are involved in Youth Ministry, a program that assists in preparation for Confirmation at age 16 while also encouraging continued spiritual growth throughout the high school years. They gather Sunday mornings as well as afternoons. They explore the challenges and choices set before them in this fast-paced society, and with the guidance and love from parents, mentors, leaders and clergy, they grow into Christian thinking young adults, able to assume responsibility for their choices.
Jr. High: On the first Sunday of each month our Jr. and Sr. High classes meet in the Dove’s Nest (the Sr. High Sunday School Room) for a combined Sunday School hour. Other Sunday’s our 6th, 7th and 8th graders meet in the Education Wing in the H.O.G. (Hands of God) Classroom.
Sr. High: Our Sr. High class meets in the Dove’s Nest located in the Purser Hall wing. Once a month they gather with the Jr. High group for a combined class and once a month Fr. Bob leads the class.
E.Y.C. (Episcopal Youth for Christ): Meetings are held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Dinner is prepared by parent volunteers and served in Purser Hall at 6:00 p.m. Following dinner, the youth will move to the Sr. High Room (the Dove’s Nest) for an evening of activities. All youth currently in junior and senior high school (grades 6 through 12) are invited to attend and encouraged to bring friends.
